Six plants are carefully selected based on the time of year they are dispatched, guaranteeing that you receive the best plants to make the greatest impact in your garden. It can be complicated working out which plants to choose and this ready-to-go pack will save you time and you can be confident that each plant was selected with care.

The plants support and complement each other, providing a collage of textures against a thick backdrop of green. It also provides excellent water coverage thanks to the variation in length of stalks.

Please note that in the autumn/ winter months plants will be cut back before sending out and there may be less variation in varieties included as we favour the more cold hardy varieties.

Water Moss – Fontinalis antipyretica

Fontinalis antipyretica is a submerged aquatic perennial which is great for oxygenating your pond. It is an epiphyte (a non-parasitic plant which grows on other plants for support), with rootlets that can attach to logs or rocks. Its broad, lance-shaped leaves are rigid and pointed, and its dark green contrasts beautifully with the white flowers it bears every summer.

Common Water Starwort – Callitriche autumnalis

The Common Water Starwort floats on the surface of ponds, growing in a thick, oxygenating layer, providing shelter from the heat for frogs and other pond life. Producing delicate and subtle green flowers in the summer and remaining green throughout the year, the Starwort is a versatile oxygenator for any garden pond.

Large Slender Club Rush – Scirpus cernuus

Scirpus Cernuus is an aquatic submerged perennial plant which is adaptable to shallow or deep water. This bright green rush with slender leaves grows in attractive tufted clumps and produces masses of tiny white flowers atop emerged stalks in summer. Submerged green shoots assist in the oxygenation of pond water. Scirpus Cernuus is an evergreen plant, which means that its foliage persists and remains green throughout the year.

Hornwort Ceratophyllum demersum

This pond perennial remains submerged beneath the surface of your pond, colouring your pond with its forked green leaves. Tiny flowers bloom in the summer from the leaf axils, decorating the greenery with tiny white blooms.

Variegated Pennywort Hydrocotyle Variegata

Hydrocotyle Variegata is an aquatic submerged perennial plant which is adaptable to shallow or deep water. It features intricate, ornamental foliage and masses of mid green leaves with cream circumferences, which have edges in a slight shade of pink. The leaves grow on long, creeping stalks, which create extensive ground covers and a good habitat for pond life. Small, white, cup-shaped flowers emerge above the water surface in summer.

Red Stemmed Parrot’s Feather Myriophyllum brasiliensis

Myriophyllum brasiliensis is a vigorous growing, dense shrub. Above the water it has brilliant bright green feathery foliage with red stems. Below the water it is slightly different with a deep red hue. Its dense stems and foliage make it an excellent plant for sheltering underwater wildlife. It is perfect for growing at the edge of a pond or beneath the water’s surface as an oxygenating aquatic.
